Soil analysis for ground source heat pump design
Soil analysis for ground source heat pump design:
This service is to test for soil conditions present at job site to identify thermal properties. Once these values are identified a ground heat exchanger can be accurately designed and installed. This allows the installer and excavator the ability to minimize expensive digging and yet maintain the designers minimum Entering Water Temperature (EWT) to the heat pump which maximizes the Cofficient of Performance (COP). The soil properties tested for are:
- Soil Type
- Soil water content
- Thermal Conductivity
- Thermal Diffusivity
We will ship out a sealable container with instructions for sampling. Return container with pre-paid label. This test takes about 2 weeks to perform once we receive your sample, if you need results sooner please contact us directly to let us know.
Note: this service is intended for IGSHPA certified designers and engineers who have the ability to design a ground heat exchanger and only need the properties of the soil to complete their design. If you do not have these capabilities please see our other GSHP design options for a more comprehensive service.
